Optical Fibres
Fibres that step outside standard telecom geometry and materials built with an unusual core, cladding or coating so they can do a job an ordinary fibre can't. Designed, drawn and characterised in-house by Photonics Bretagne in Lannion, and tailored to your application.

Fibres tailored
to the application,
not the other way around
A special fibre earns its name either through an atypical geometry a microstructured cladding, for instance or through the materials chosen for its core, cladding or coating. Turning one into a usable component, such as a fibre end-cap or a coupled pigtail for a laser system, is the next step Photonics Bretagne can also take on. Below is the standard range; custom geometries and doping levels are available on request.
Active Fibers
BDF-Bismuth-Doped-Fibers - Developed to widen the usable amplification bandwidth in the O-band, answering telecom demand for more available data capacity.
VLMA-Ytterbium-Doped-Fibers - A polarisation-maintaining, ytterbium-doped, very- large-mode-area double-clad fibre, developed for easy integration into ultrafast fibre laser systems.
Hollow-Core Fibers PCF
Anti-Resonant-Hollow-Core-Cables - Developed with IDIL, this cabled range combines low-latency transmission, high bandwidth and low loss in a single deployable cable.
ARF-Anti-Resonant-Fibers - An air core ringed by a single layer of nontouching anti-resonant tubes guidance comes from an anti-resonance effect rather than a bandgap.
HCF-Photonic-Bandgap-Fibers - Light travels through an air core surrounded by a photonic-bandgap microstructure with a very high air-fill factor, keeping the signal largely out of the glass.
Metal Coated Fibers
AL-Aluminum-Coated-Fibers - Metal-coated silica fibres that hold up mechanically and chemically better than polymer-coated fibres in harsh environments, including high temperature and radiation.
Multicore Fibers
MCF-2-7-12-Core-Fibers - Doped-silica multicore fibres suited to telecom links, Bragg-grating-based strain and temperature sensing, and fibre amplifiers or lasers.
Solid-Core Fibers PCF
ACF-Airclad-Fibers - Pure-silica multimode fibres combining a large core diameter with a very high numerical aperture built for power delivery and light collection in spectroscopy.
ASM-All-Solid-Endlessly-Single-Mode-Fibers - A solid microstructured fibre that behaves as endlessly single-mode once lightly bent over a few metres of length, giving excellent mode quality for delivery applications.
ESM-Endlessly-Single-Mode-Fibers - A microstructured design with no higher-ordermode cut-off, so the fibre stays single-mode across a very wide wavelength range well suited to clean mode delivery in the visible.
SUP-Supercontinuum-Fibers - Low dispersion at the pump wavelength paired with a high numerical aperture, tuned for efficient supercontinuum generation from titanium-sapphire and similar ultrafast sources.
Fiber Components
Boron-Doped-Stress-Rods - The stress rods from Photonics Bretagne are manufactured to meet your demanding dimensional needs. A wide range of diameters/index of precision finished rods manufactured with tight tolerances is possible.
Capillaries - The high precision capillaries we produce are drawn to meet your exacting dimensional needs. A wide range of diameters of precision finished rods, manufactured with tight tolerances. Also available in non-circular tubes and rods.
DTBG-Draw-Tower-Bragg-Gratings - These fibre Bragg Gratings Arrays are perfectly suited to be used as thermal or strain sensors. The process to inscribe them directly during the fibre draw allows to preserve the pristine mechanical strength of the fibre as for a telecom grade one. An unlimited number of gratings can be inscribed in a repeatable way on standard or spun fibres. Reduced clad fibres, associated Fan in/Fan out and connectorisation available on request.
Fiber-Components - Easy integration of specialty optical fibres into the customer system to maximize performance and reliability.
